Mount Allison Drops Season Opener to Holland
Mount Allison started strong in their ACAA Women's Basketball home opener on Sunday at McCormick Gym, jumping to a 20-10 lead after the first quarter. Danielle Alexander led the charge with 18 points and 11 rebounds, dominating inside. Holland responded with a 25-point second quarter, narrowing the gap to 39-35 at halftime.
The Mounties struggled offensively in the second half, scoring just 25 points as Holland's depth and defensive pressure took over. Despite solid efforts from Sadie Bowen (12 points) and a late spark from Nora Miller (11 points), Mount Allison couldn't hold off Holland's balanced attack.
Nevaeh O'Connell paced Holland with 15 points, while Nykeva Wilson Brown added 14. The visitors outscored Mount Allison 36-25 in the final two quarters to secure a 71-64 win.
Holland (2-0) are on the road next Saturday, November 8th at 4pm against MSVU. Mount Allison (0-1) will look to bounce back in their next game Saturday, November 8th against Crandall, tipoff is at 2pm.
